AutoRes

Hold Alt while placing a generator TOP to have its resolution follow the project (or the panel it sits in).

AutoRes

When holding Alt (same for Mac) and placing a Generator type TOP this component sets the Output Resolution parameter to 'Parent Panel Size' if available, otherwise Custom Resolution and the expression for the resolutionw (and similarly to resolutionh): "tdu.tryExcept(lambda: parent.Project.width, op.AUTO_RES.par.Resolutionw)". In a nutshell this means if parent.Project.width is defined it will set the resolution to those values, if not it will set the resolution to the value defined by this component's custom parameters. Where available it also sets the RGB and Pixel Format parameters to this component's defaults.

Only the operator you dropped

AutoRes acts on the operator that just appeared in the network you are looking at, and on nothing else. Operators that surface deeper down (a package reloading, a replicator, a component loading its contents) are not drops and are left alone, and a batch too large to be a drop is skipped with a note in the Textport. Earlier versions could catch up on such a backlog at your next Alt-drop and rewrite every generator TOP in it.

Parameters

Its Registry page comes from FNS_ConfigRegistry.

Custom

ControlType / defaultWhat it does
ActiveActive on / offon Turn AutoRes on or off. When on, dropping a generator TOP with the modifier held sets its Output Resolution to follow the project instead of the 1280x720 default. Off leaves the component installed but idle.
ResolutionResolution width, height1920 The fallback resolution written into the dropped TOP's Custom Resolution. It is only reached when the network has no parent.Project shortcut to follow. With one, the TOP tracks that instead.
RGBRgb menuInput + Noise The RGB mode written onto generator TOPs that have one (the Noise TOP).
Options: Noise, Input * Noise, Input + Noise, Input - Noise
Pixel FormatFormat menuUse Input The Pixel Format written onto the dropped TOP. 'Use Input' leaves TouchDesigner's own default alone.
Options: Use Input, 8-bit fixed (RGBA), sRGB 8-bit fixed (RGBA), 16-bit float (RGBA), 32-bit float (RGBA), 10-bit RGB, 2-bit Alpha, fixed (RGBA), 16-bit fixed (RGBA), 11-bit float (RGB), Positive Values Only and 18 more
KeysKeys textempty The modifier keys held to trigger this gesture, space-separated (TouchDesigner key names). The default is an expression that picks the right keys per platform. Typing a plain value over it pins the tool to one OS.
