Updater

In-place toolkit updates, with settings preserved across the replacement.

◈ Core

Wiki

Clicking this icon will open this Wiki page. If the border of this icon is yellow it means one or more of your installed packages have an update available. Clicking it in that state will prompt you for an update.

Self-Update Feature

If there is an update available for any package installed in your project, the ? icon in the toolbar will have a yellow border. Clicking the icon will prompt you for an update, you can say No in which case it will take you to the Wiki as usual, otherwise the following is going to happen:

  • Save all configs (custom parameters of tools) to a json file
  • Fetch only the packages that actually changed from the store (verifying each download's hash), and replace just those; a package you never installed stays uninstalled
  • Reload each replaced tool's saved configs

This way we can ensure that your settings are retained between updates, alongside the externally retained data, outlined in the next chapter.

Notes after an update

The first time a project opens after an update landed, a small popup shows that release's notes. It appears once per update, never on a plain project open.

Turn off Show Notes After Update on the updater's parameters to skip it. The setting roams with your other toolkit settings, so one click silences the popup in every project on the machine. The notes stay readable at any time on the Hub's Updates tab.

Get it

Tick it on the install page and it installs with the rest of your setup and stays up to date.

Download FNS_Updater.tox Version 3.2.26, the tool on its own. It works in any project, and this copy never updates itself.

Parameters

Its Registry page comes from FNS_ConfigRegistry and FNS_ToolbarRegistry.

Custom

ControlType / defaultWhat it does
Base URLBaseurl textempty Where the published manifest lives. Fetches /manifest.json; artifact URLs come from that manifest, pinned to their release. A local folder or file:// path works too, which is how the flow is exercised without a bucket.
EnabledActive on / offoff Master switch for the Check and Update pulses.
Use DiscoveryUsediscovery on / offon Resolve the manifest location from the pinned discovery document instead of trusting Base URL. Leave on: it is what lets the bucket move without a component update, and it carries the minimum-version and notice channel. Turning it off pins this install to Base URL forever. A local or file:// Base URL always wins regardless.
Store FolderStorefolder folder pathempty Machine-wide package store the manifest and artifacts are fetched into. Blank means /FNSTools/store.
TargetTarget operatorparent() The toolkit container whose packages are compared and updated.
Show Download ProgressShowprogress on / offoff Open the downloader's progress window while files are fetched.
Show Notes After UpdateShownotes on / offon After an update pass finishes, the Textport gets one line naming the release and its notes. Turn this off to skip it; the notes stay readable on the Hub's Updates tab either way. This is never a popup and never fires on project start. Roams with your settings.
Keep the Whole Release in the StoreKeepstore on / offon After an install or an update pass, also download the rest of the release into this machine's store (about 12 MB), so Pick Tools works offline and everything the store can offer is already here. Off: only what you install is fetched.
Refresh StoreRefreshstore button Fetch the manifest and every artifact whose bytes differ into the store. Machine-wide: no project is touched.
Check for UpdatesCheck button Fetch the manifest and compare it against this project's install record. Cheap: no artifacts are downloaded.
StatusStatusread-only textempty Result of the last check, refresh or update pass.
Update This ProjectUpdate button Fetch the artifacts this project needs and replace only the packages whose bytes differ. Never installs a package you did not choose.
Gate URLGateurl textempty Where entitlement is checked and gated packages are fetched from. Placeholder until the gate is deployed; it is the only address this component knows for paid downloads.
Sign InSignin button Open your browser to sign in with Patreon. Nothing secret is stored in this project: the token lives in the operating system keystore, locked to this machine and this user.
Sign OutSignout button Forget this machine's entitlement. Packages you already installed are untouched, and only future paid downloads stop.
AccountAuthstatusread-only textsigned out Who this install is signed in as and how many paid packages the account covers. Read-only.
Licence KeyLicensekey textempty A Gumroad licence key. Keys are per tool, so redeeming another one ADDS to this account rather than replacing it.
Licence ProductLicenseproduct textempty The Gumroad product id the key above belongs to. Shown on the product page you bought it from.
Redeem LicenceRedeemlicense button Check the licence key with the gate and add what it unlocks to this account.
